Screened Sheltered Pool Evaporation table

This table reflects approximate seasonal pool evaporation rates for screened sheltered installations--signified by substantial barriers (i.e. hedges, trees, fences, etc) near an enclosed (screened-in) pool. Note...add column 2 with (any of) the applicable columns 3-7 to arrive at your pool's approximate evaporation rate. Setting up a leak/evaporation test is an even better way to measure your pool's water loss. Also, you may want to check out our FAQ to get a better understanding of evaporation.

* South-facing pools stay warmer (and evaporate more during cooler months) because they tend to absorb more sun energy and avoid northerly (winter) winds.

** Heat pump calculations are based on an every 10 degree (Fahrenheit) increment above ambient (the natural surrounding water) temperature.

*** Wind enhanced evaporation rates are based upon an every 1mph (avg.) increase in wind speed. For example, a constant 4mph wind (e.g. a cold front) would double a pool's evaporation rate.
